Moses was a man who you could write a book about.. He had a lot going on in his life. From being found in those wavy waters in a basket, to having troubles with speaking yet having the burden of leading his people out to freedom. He was right next to God through it all and yet he still made many mistakes. He is only human. I read some of his stories a lot. I kind of feel like him sometimes, but I always wondered why he had doubts. He saw miracles and still struggled to lead. (look at his crazy staff) We are all not wired to lead, but told to be leaders. Sometimes it can be hard. Moses never got to see the promised land because he lost his temper. I don’t think God let him stay behind just because he was angry. More importantly, God made him stay because he didn’t trust in God. Moses was practically buds with God, yet struggled to follow him. What does that say for the rest of us? We are all humans and make mistakes. We are all leaders and from time to time need to follow. What I like about Moses the most is he did what he was supposed to do anyways. He may have doubted, but he did it. If God tells you to do something, don’t ask questions.. Just do it ! (Not trying to sound like a Nike ad).
Woooooooh! July 19, 2008
I can’t believe it. About 6 months of planning is over. VBS was so amazing and tiring, but it proved to be a great experiance. For firsts, this one was a good one. It can only get better from here.. We learned, we grew, we will conquer! (Excuse the cheese) As far as numbers go (which really isn’t that important), We had 146 kids come to VBS and 45 volunteers! We had over 1500 cans go to our Missions of Morningstar, which is an added bonus because I didn’t think we were going to make that! The whole point of VBS for me is to see the community. I love seeing people come together to help, to take time off work, to love another! I know that sounds like a typical response, but in all reality it is pretty simple. Crossroads is here for the community. We are here to make disciples and I am here to serve our kids! Thanks to all who helped!
It started………… July 15, 2008
Vacation Bible School is here… And what are the words that I have for it? Incredible and exhausting all in the same breath. I can’t even believe how much God has answered prayer for us this week. He is in the little things as well as the big. For example, Today we needed more people to help and it just worked out that we had enough people. We had 116 kids show up today! How amazing is that considering we average about 200 on Sundays..
Thank you to all those who have prayed for this week.. Keep it up and pray for no rain on Friday!
Family on the Fourth! July 1, 2008
It is always interesting to venture home to the land of poisonous nuts(buckeyes)! I love family and all the crazy corks that come a long with that. Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays, even more so than Christmas! Do you know why? Its not the patriotism, even though I enjoy your typical God Bless America Chorus. It’s not the food, even though I can wolf it down with the best of them.
It is, however, the family. It is the one time where a ton of my family get together. I know this may sound like a lame answer, but to me it seems like family is lost in our country. In America, we are too busy, live too far away to care. Put our grandparents or even parents in nursing homes. Divorce because it just wasn’t working out and look to our own desires rather than what our children need. I cherish the times spent with family and miss it. I hope you do too!
VBS July 1, 2008
I know I haven’t posted in a long time, but it’s because I don’t have time to be on here.. I am trying though.. July 14-18 is VBS and I feel like it is going to be an awesome week. I won’t be able to breath until after that week is over..
Our church needs prayer in this: Just so that kids will learn about Christ, they will understand the messages, they will have fun, it won’t rain, no one gets hurt, everyone is safe, no one gets hurt, nerves to break, no one gets hurt, the focus is in the right place, and no one gets hurt!
I think that VBS is a really important outreach. Lets hope it brings more families into the Church!
